Ballina accountant, Tracey Glacken C.P.A., is one of a panel of mentors who have been selected and formally appointed by the European Commission to the EU Network of Mentors for Women Entrepreneurs. The Female Entrepreneurship Mentoring Programme is a nationwide initiative being co-ordinated by Galway Chamber which supports early stage female entrepreneurs through mentoring support.

Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Michael Ring TD launched the impressive new Ballina and Mayo North tourist guide for the region and its hinterland at special reception in Ballina's Town Council Offices.

There was a very high standard of penmanship shown by all entrants in the 2012 INTO/EBS Handwriting Competition which drew a large number of entries from national schools throughout Mayo. The annual awards ceremony was held in the Harlequin Hotel where the winners were presented with their prizes.

The refixture of the Mayo v Dublin Alliance Football Division 1 League game postponed due to fog in February will take place in Elvery’s MacHale Park, Castlebar on Saturday next, March 31st at 7pm.  All supporters entering Elvery’s MacHale Park will be issued with a ticket as they pass through the turnstiles.  They will have an opportunity to make a voluntary contribution if they wish to do so. 

The first ever Castlebar Tidy Towns Good Friday Clean up takes place on Fri the 6th April from 10am until 12 noon assembling at Super Valu Castlebar.

Relay for Life is an over night community celebration which honours current and former cancer patients, their families and friends. The event itself will take place in Castlebar on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th September. During the event teams of friends, neighbours, families and colleagues come together in groups of 15/20 people to take part in the event.  

Shania McDonagh of Balla No Name Club was the winner of the Road Safety campaign poster competition. She received her award from Balla No Name Club, Road Safety Authority officer, Eilish Mulherne, at a recent function.

Crossmolina native and Today FM presenter, Louise Duffy, is getting into the beat for the Flora Women’s Mini Marathon with Dr. Deirdre Ward, Director of the CRYP Centre in Tallaght to make a final call to all its female supporters around the country to sign up to “run for CRY” before registration closes.
